Kassav invites Saudi crown prince to visit Jerusalem
Saudi Arabia-Israel, Politics, 3/26/2002
The Israeli President Moshe Kassav has described the initiative made by the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz as positive and implies a new proposal amid the escalation of tension in the region.
In a statement to al-Majallah magazine issued in London, in its recent issue of Monday, Kassav justified his invitation extended to crown prince Abdullah to visit Jerusalem in order to directly propose his initiative to the Israelis that it came as an honor for his person and an expression to Israel's welcome to his political initiative and to eliminate the atmospheres of non- confidence between Israel and the Arabs.
The Israeli President said that Israel will not stand careless towards positive messages coming from the Arab states. He called for making direct negotiations face to face between the Israelis and the Saudis in Jerusalem, or al-Riyadh or in any another place.
On his expectations about the forthcoming Arab summit, the Israeli President hoped that the "Arab leaders will meet on the options of peace and to adopt unanimously the Saudi initiative in its being the base for political negotiations between the Arabs and Israel."
