Belgian team wins Morocco's 9th classic rally

Belgian team, made up of Carlos Ghistelinck-Bernard Soens, on board a Mercedes 280 SE, won Morocco's 9th Classic.
The Belgian pilots won the rally thanks to their victory Friday in the 6th and last leg (Marrakesh-Oukaimden- Marrakesh).
The French teams (Bernard Consten and Jean-Claude Miloe, driving a Jaguar XK 140 Roadster), and Philip Amzalac-Olivier Lazar, in a convertible Porsche 356 B, ranked second and third respectively.
The German team, composed of Hanz Werner Wirt-Ursula Schmitt, on board of a Chevrolet Covette, won Thursday the 5th leg, linking Marrakesh to Agadir through Taroudant (309 km).
The Marrakesh Grand Prix organized Saturday was obtained by Portuguese Carlos Seruya and Marta Seruya, who drove an Alfa Romeo G.S.V.
The rally is not a speed contest and focuses rather on regular driving. The rally is made up of six legs, the longest of which (600 km) linked Ouarzazate, Tata and Agadir, and the shortest (154 km) covers Marrakesh-Oukaimden-Marrakesh.
