Arab Socio-Economic Council approves several draft resolutions

The Arab Socio-Economic Council approved a number of draft economic resolutions that will be submitted to the Arab summit due to start on Wednesday.

The Council approved a draft resolution on setting up an inter-Arab free trade area (FTA), calling for unifying customs duties among the Arab states.

The Council also welcomed the Lebanese initiative to set up an Arab office for pharmaceuticals, assigning the Arab Health Ministers Council to study the initiative and its suggestions to the Council.

The Council also approved draft resolutions on liberalizing air transport among the Arab countries and boosting Arab tourism.

Moussa holds series of meetings to arrange for Arab FMs talks.

Arab league Secretary General Amr Moussa held a series of meetings Sunday within the framework of arrangements for the Arab foreign ministers talks, due to start in Beirut on Monday.

Arab League Secretary General spokesman Hisham Youssef told reporters Moussa received Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al Faysal for talks on the latest developments in the Arab initiative which will be tackled during the summit, the situation between Iraq and Kuwait and a number of other issues on the agenda of today's (Monday) ministerial talks.
