High hopes are pinned on Egypt in Beirut summit
Palestine-Regional, Politics, 3/25/2002

Member of the PLO executive committee Abdel Rihim Molawah called on Sunday upon Arab leaders to take firm resolutions conducive to an Israeli withdrawal to the June 4,1967 borders to spare the region woes of a new war. Asked on the American decision to put Al Aqsa brigades on the list of terrorist organizations, he said occupation is the fiercest kind of terrorism and people have the right to resist occupation.

Speaking to MENA on Sunday, he said the first challenge facing Beirut gathering is represented in oppression and terrorism to which Palestinians are exposed at the hands of the Israeli government of Ariel Sharon.

The Arab states are pinning great hopes on this summit, he said. Hopes are pinned especially on Egypt and its leadership in realizing the aspirations of the Arab nation and that of the Palestinians, he added.

He called upon the US administration to reconsider its stance, which is constantly supportive of the Israeli method.
