Bush calls on Arafat to put an end to the Palestinian resistance

The US President George Bush, who is on an official visit to Peru on Saturday evening in Lima called on the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat to put an end to the Palestinian resistance against the Israeli occupation, if he desires to have a meeting with his Vice President Dick Cheney.

News reports quoted Bush as saying "we have told Arafat clearly that he is not making all his efforts for putting an end to these operations." Bush made it clear that the report he will submit to his special delegate to the Middle East Anthony Zinni about his meetings with the Israeli and Palestinian sides will be a decisive factor.
