Egypt to solve export problems
Egypt, Economics, 3/23/2002

Egyptian Prime Minister Atef Ebeid said that the government was keen on solving problems the investors were facing, as part of efforts to develop, encourage and attract investments, and open foreign markets to Egyptian products and provide job opportunities for youths.

In statements after touring the investment authority pavilion at Cairo International Fair, Ebeid said that he was briefed by the investors on their problems, adding that he would work with Mohammad Al Ghamrawi, Head of the Investment Authority, to solve the problems immediately.

He said that the government was also working to modernise industry and use the most up-to-date technology in an atmosphere of security and stability provided by President Hosni Mubarak.

The Prime Minister said that the government has been working round the clock to achieve socio-economic development and provide adequate services for citizens.

Moreover, the German-Arab Chamber for Industry and Trade has expected 1.8 million people from the Arab states, Africa and Europe to visit the Cairo International Fair opened by Prime Minister Atef Ebeid on Wednesday.

This came in a press release distributed by the chamber on Thursday on the activities of the German pavilion in the fair.

Egypt is one of the most important countries attracting foreign investments after adopting the free market policy, said the chamber, pointing out that Germany is a key partner to Egypt.

The statistics of the German Federal Bureau for 2001 indicated that 14 % of total German exports to the Middle East headed to Egypt and 4 % of the total German imports from the Arab markets came from Egypt, said the chamber in its press release.

It added that 25 German companies and 40 agents for German I manufacturers are displaying products in various domains, including construction materials and technologies of printing, wrapping, infrastructure, electricity and tractors.
