Solidarity voiced with the Palestinians in Pretoria
Palestine-South Africa, Politics, 3/23/2002
More than 2000 persons demonstrated on Thursday in the downtown of Pretoria on the occasion of the Human Rights Day in south Africa in solidarity with the Palestinian people in order to impose sanctions on Israel.
News reports said that the demonstrators marched according to calls made by societies met under the banner of the Palestinian work league throughout the streets of the capital heading the government's headquarters. The demonstrators carried a memorandum that called on Pretoria to sever its relations with Israel and to start imposing sanctions on it.
The demonstrators were carrying banners with phrases commending the Palestinian Intifada and condemning "the crimes committed by the Israel's dictator Ariel Sharon."
