Importance of regular political and economic summits to address Arab issues

The secretary general of the Arab League Amre Moussa has stressed that the current contacts and preparations for providing a success to the Arab summit in Beirut is proceeding on the right track.
In a statement to the Lebanese daily al-Mustaqbal Moussa said that the issue of regular meetings for the summit is deservedly observes. A fact which is sincerely materialized in Beirut's summit.
He explained that the importance of this summit lies in its concentration on annual summits, because it is the second Arab summit to this effect, besides this summit furnishes the way for the third coming Arab summit.
On the economic side, and in the same light of having started and made the political Arab summit a regular event, Moussa recently announced the first Arab economic conference to be held on June 16 in Cairo. Noting the extreme importance of economic development and issues, some Arab leaders have called for economic Arab summits and this was approved at the last political summit.
Meantime, Moussa said ihe upcoming summit is an Arab one, and it is important that its resolutions be related to the Arab states. It is for the Arab leaders to decide the ceiling of the summit, he said.
On whether the agenda would include topics pertaining to breathing 1ife into the Arab boycott of Israel, he said the summiteers are the ones authorized to decide their agenda.
He added that it was agreed to hold more meetings on Saturday, expecting intensive participation in this summit which gains importance due to the dangerous situation in the Arab-Israeli conflict.
Furthermore, the Arab League Economic and Social Council will hold a meeting on Saturday on the economic part of the summit agenda, said the Arab League chief.
