Saudi Arabia rejects Israeli request
Saudi Arabia-Israel, Politics, 3/23/2002
The Saudi daily Okaz issued on Friday said that the Saudi delegation taking part in the conference of the International parliamentary Union, currently held in Morocco refused a request to convene a meeting with the Israeli delegation, proposed by the chairman of the Israeli Knesset Abraham Burg.
The paper added quoting Arab parliamentary sources that the chairman of the Saudi delegation in Marrakesh Ziad al-Sadeiri answered the mediator who conveyed the Israeli request " by deliberate rejection," stressing that such a meeting can be only made after the Israeli withdrawal from all occupied Arab territories occupied by Israel on June 5, 1967 including Jerusalem as a capital for the Palestinian state.
