Israel completes plans to import Turkish waters within two weeks
Israel-Turkey, Economics, 3/22/2002
The economic group at the Israeli Cabinet said on Wednesday that Israel is intending to import between 50 to 100 million cubic meters of waters from Turkey because of the drastic shortage in local water supplies.
In a statement, the group said that a plan including a detailed schedule for the project will be ready within two weeks. The group also recommended the increase in the amount of sea waters which are desalinized annually from 200 to 400 million cubic meters annually.
However, the water crisis in Israel has increased because waterfall for this winter was not enough to fill the reservoirs which were emptied by successive years of drought.
