Bahrain to monitor public funds, fight corruption

"There is no bigger threat to economic development than administrative and financial corruption," said Defence Under-Secretary Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who chairs the newly-formed Public Sector Administrative and Finances Monitoring Committee Gulf Daily News reported.
"Officials at all levels will be monitored," said the man at the head of a special committee set up to combat corruption, Gulf Daily News reported on the 8th of this month.
"Shaikh Mohammed's committee, formed by Amiri decree in January, is charged with achieving the highest level of administrative performance, raising productivity, establishing the principles of transparency and impartiality and protecting public money," Gulf Daily News reported.
