On the Saudi crown prince visit to Washington
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 3/21/2002
The Saudi daily al-Watan said that it is expected that the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz will visit Washington in April after the next Arab summit will adopt his initiative.
The paper added quoting well-informed sources that the acceptance of the Saudi crown prince the invitation of the US President to visit Washington came after President Bush changed his inclination towards the Palestinian question and has become confident that the proposal of crown prince Abdullah of this initiative required from Washington embarking on a different policy towards the Israeli- Palestinian conflict and to work for controlling the Israeli terrorism.
The paper indicated that the telephone call the Saudi crown prince received on Tuesday from Cheney gave an indication on attaining an American progress at the level of halting the Israeli acts of violence against the Palestinians in preparations for the return back of the two sides to the table of negotiations.
The paper quoted a Palestinian official as saying that crown prince Abdullah on Tuesday informed a Palestinian delegation that Washington informed to him the participation of the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat in the Arab summit to be held in Beirut.
