Jordan, Politics, 3/21/2002

The Jordanian people's activists and national parties continued demanding the release of former member of the Jordanian parliament member Toujan al-Faisal, who was arrested by the Jordanian authorities last Saturday.

The higher coordination committee of the national parties refused the principle of political detention and called for immediate release of Toujan al-Faisal and the chief editor of the Jordanian weekly Hashem al-Khalidi.

The Islamic labor work party extended a memorandum to the Jordanian prime minister Ali Abu al-Rafhen in which he called for ending al-Faisal issue. The memorandum also called for releasing persons arrested during the two past weeks, including engineer Omar Ziab, and Taj eddine al-Harroub, own of al-Bilaad news paper and al-Bilad chief editor Hashem al-Khalidi.
