Gulf-Regional, Politics, 3/21/2002
Oman has deposited the common defense agreement of the Arab Gulf states at the Arab League. This agreement was ratified at Bahrain's summit which was held in 2000 by all members states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The Omani ambassador in Cairo Abdul Aziz al-Hamazani who handed the document to the secretary general of the Arab League Amre Mousa said following his meeting with journalists that there were technical problems which were behind not handing over the document since it was agreed upon.
He stressed that this agreement will contribute to consolidating security and stability in the region, besides this agreement does not undermine the obligations of the GCC member states to the Arab League charter.
