Syria: Opinion prisoners observe hunger strike

The society in charge of defending human rights in Syria said that several "opinion" prisoners have started an open hunger strike in protest of their "unjustified" detention since more than one year.
In a circulated statement, the society said that wives of the eight detainees were quoted as saying after their visit to their detained husbands that "lawyer Habib Issa; Kamal al-Labawani; Dr. Aref Dallila, Dr. Walid al-Bunni, Engineer Fawaz Tello, Habib Saleh "are in protest of their detention that is being done without the authority having directed any accusations against them or bringing them before the judiciary as well as "not permitting them to see their lawyers" and not ensuring appropriate health care to them at a time when many of them suffer bad health conditions need medical treatment."
On the other hand, the judge of the Syrian criminal court Jasem Muhammad gave a grace period for the defendant commission for the independent member of parliament in Syria Riyadh Seif for one additional week to prepare for final defense of their client.
