The Iraqi oil minister Amer Rasheed has announced that Russia and Iraq are considered two main strategic partners.

Rasheed said during a press conference held on Tuesday that despite the cessation of cooperation between the two countries during the first years of the sanctions imposed on Iraq, this cooperation started to increase and develop at big strides during recent years.

The Iraqi oil minister noted that the value of services and equipment sent by Russian companies to Iraq in the context of the oil-for-food program reached USD 2 billion and the volume of the Iraqi oil marketed by Russian companies reached USD 1.1 billion barrels.

The Iraqi minister stressed that the increase in the volume of cooperation between Moscow and Baghdad is attributed to the existence of a political will and a deep desire at the two sides to develop this cooperation.
