Israel-Belgium, Economics, 3/20/2002
Three non- governmental Belgian organizations have called on the Belgium consumers to boycott the Israeli goods in protest of the European silence concerning the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Brussels the "Oxfam Flandren", "The humanitarian fraternity Organization" and the "The International development aids movement " said that all Israeli commodities and products exhibited in the Belgian markets should be boycotted. The three said organizations urged consumers in Belgium not to use any commodities bearing the mark "Made in Israel" and to take a firm position towards the current Israeli policy conducted against the Palestinian people.
The organizations said that their position stems from moral and humanitarian motives and in denunciation to keeping silence concerning the silence made towards the Israeli violations which exceed all limits.
The statement said that the European citizens can affect the political decision of the European Union in urging it not to keep a blind eye on the Israeli practices and also to work for giving the peace process a push forward.
