Tourism recession In Israel

The assistant director for the Israeli tourism bureau Dani Newman has admitted the recession in the activity of the tourism sector in Israel in 2001 in comparison with the year 2000 because of the Palestinian Intifada. The Orient ( al-Sharq) radio quoted Newman as saying that tourism decline reached 50%. A matter which constituted a crisis in the tourism sector and the loss of 40,000 jobs as well as closing several Israeli hotels because of the Palestinian Intifada.
