Moussa calls for more Arab action

Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa said that the Arab nation faces serious problems in the light of the international situation which is not ripe for the Arabs.

Moussa, in statements to Al-Ahram newspaper, said Arafat's absence from the coming Arab League summit in Beirut, would be evidence on the Israeli intransigence.

"Israel's end of the blockade would give glimpse of hope," he said.

Moussa voiced pessimism on the possibility of achieving just peace with Israel due to the orientations of the Israeli political and military institutions.

"The Arab countries offered all material assistance to the Palestinians but this is not enough," he said.

According to Moussa, the so-called clash of civilizations is serious and significant issue.

"Germany, for example, organized about six forums to probe the clash of civilization and Turkey hosts a conference on inter-culture dialogue in Istanbul," he added.

As to the Palestinian Intifada Moussa said the Palestinian resistance would escalate if the Israeli occupation continued.

"The Palestinian resistance could not be defeated," he said.
