Thousands Jordanian demand ending the peace treaty with Israel
Jordan-Israel, Politics, 3/18/2002

More than 5,000 Jordanians on Saturday called for abrogating the Israeli- Jordanian peace treaty and to declare Jihad against Israel. This was expressed in one of the largest demonstration against Israel in Amman.

It was the first demonstration in public permitted by the Jordanian authorities in Amman since one year. More than 5,000 persons of various political trends took part in the "demonstration of wrath" which was called for by the vocational trade unions and the political parties.

The demonstration lasted for one and a half hours and started from in front off the vocational trade unions headquarters to the UN premises which is just 2 kilometers in the west of Amman. The demonstrators carried banners and flags and demonstrated slogans calling on the Jordanian government to " expel the Israeli ambassador in Amman and to canceling the Jordanian- Israeli peace treaty signed in 1994."
