Special security arrangements for Israeli Knesset delegation in Marrakesh

Special security measures were taken for the Israeli Knesset delegation taking part in the International Parliamentary Union conference which started on Sunday in Marrakesh at a time when university students of al-Qaddi Ayyadh in the city lead a demonstration of protest over the participation of the Israeli delegation in the conference.

The Israeli Knesset delegation which arrived on Saturday was taken from the airport by special cars to its residence and the personal weapons carried by the Israeli security group escorting the delegation were confiscated because that the security of the delegations is the responsibility of the Moroccan security forces.

Moroccan parliamentary sources said that the speaker of the Moroccan parliament Abdul Wahid al-Radi who presides over the sessions of the conference refused a proposal to meet with members of the Israeli delegation, besides the chairman of the consultants council Mustafa Akasha who presides over the Moroccan delegation to the conference, refused by his turn organizing a meeting with the Israeli delegation.
