Peres statements on Palestinian-Israeli conditions
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 3/18/2002
The Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres said that it is not possible at the meantime to complete a withdrawal for the Israeli army from the Palestinian lands, cities and territories it had occupied recently before starting serious negotiations with the Palestinian side. In statements quoted on Sunday by the Israeli radio, Peres set a precondition which is the Palestinian authority to halt the Palestinian Intifada and all forms of resistance against the Israeli army.
Peres denied any differences with the Israeli Prime minister Ariel Sharon concerning negotiations with the Palestinians and reaching an agreement on what he called a cease- fire.
