Sudan FM nominated for chairman of the UNGA for 2004 session

The Organization of African Unity has adopted the Sudanese foreign minister Mustafa Othman as the first candidate for the UN General Assembly for its session of 2004.
The Sudanese ambassador in Ethiopia Othman al-Sayed told the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Aam issued on Saturday in Khartoum that the Sudanese government informed the organization on Friday its nomination of Mustafa Othman Ismael who was accepted by the nomination committee at the Organization of African Unity and adopted him as its first candidate.
The ambassador added that the said nomination committee also received a request from the Sudanese government to approve the nomination of Kamel al-Tayeb Idris for the second term of office in the post of the secretary general of the intellectual property.
