Minister of Interior: No one away from terrorism

In an exclusive interview with Al-Ahram reporter at Sanaa, Minister of Interior Habib El-Adli confirmed the existence of full security cooperation and exchange of information between Egypt and the USA in combating terrorism.

Excerpts:

Talks with Yemeni authorities had two sides. Firstly, activation of the joint security relations, governed by the bilateral and Arab cooperation agreements, already signed by the ministers of interior and justice. Secondly, the issue of terrorism which concerns Egypt as well as Yemen.

Through the meeting with President Ali Abdullah Saleh, and Prime Minister Abdel Qader Bajamal, I feel cheerful and optimistic about realizing our targets.

The events of 11 September have resulted in a great change in the manifestations of cooperation in face of terrorism phenomenon.

We have acted long years ahead of the USA and all countries in combating terrorism, and we have a long experience in this domain.

Our vision is that the international anti-terrorism action would take an effective and sincere form, given that the European countries have eventually understood that since terrorism has reached the USA, then no country can keep away from terrorism.

Our vision is also based on the fact that terrorism must be blocked and controlled.

If it were not contained in the shadow of an international motion, matter would be escalated, and inconceivable events could take place.

Some concealed elements of Al-Qaeda network, are in a state of "latency" to avoid the US campaign against them. They must be preparing some action.

My assessment is that the USA is taking this fact into account, and is ready enough to face such thoughtless actions.

Cooperation with the USA has no limits and they cooperate with us to a great extent in all openness and frankness.

All information at the security agencies in Egypt are available to all parties to confront crime anywhere.

There are some Egyptian elements under the control of US authorities.

Those are the runaway terrorist elements who belonged to Al Qaeda network and who worked with Osama Bin Laden.

When an FBI official visited me at my office in Egypt, I asked him about the detained Egyptians and he asserted to me that the numbers are not yet defined according to the nationalities, as most of them do not hold proper travel documents.
