Protests in France over holding a party evening in support of the Israeli army

Several organizations in France on Thursday protested the determination of the "Israeli soldier prosperity society" to hold an entertainment evening next Sunday in Marseilles in support of the Israeli army.

The chairman of the representation council for the Jewish establishments in France Klimon Yana said that the entertainment evening in which 1200 persons are expected to take part will be held under the auspices of the Israeli army chief of staff Shaoul Mofaz in the presence of the Israeli general Consul Tammar Sammash and the Grand Rabbi of Marseilles. He said it is a demonstration of support organized annually ( inside our group).

But the regional league on Human rights protested the organization of such a party and considered that "the coming of the Israeli army which is launching a war in conditions condemned strongly by the international laws, to our country here in Marseilles to collect money with the aim to continue its objectives, is a matter which raises general regret."

The local trade union asked the chief police "to ban this event" which he considered as "improper." The French- Jewish union for peace sees that this demonstration is "untimely, provocative abd irresponsible."
