Moussa and the Saudi initiative
Regional-Israel, Politics, 3/14/2002

The secretary general of the Arab league (AL) Amr Moussa has announced that a normalization of relations with Israel is not debated in the Saudi initiative in "language or formulation " used by the press, stressing that this formulation as stated in these media was not precise.

In statements to the Lebanese daily al-Mustaqbal issued on Tuesday the AL chief said that what debated in this initiative are the Saudi thoughts of relations based on a just and comprehensive peace and to the declared Arab position according to UN resolutions, namely Israel's complete pullout from all occupied Arab territories until June 4, 1967 border line and the implementation of UN resolution 194 pertaining to the right of the Palestinian refugees to return back home.

Moussa said that the consultation meetings of the Arab foreign ministers held recently discussed the Saudi initiative. He explained that this Saudi initiative is a political stand or an expression of the Arab strategic position under the continued aggression against the Palestinian people.
