Egyptian-Tunisian higher committee convenes soon in Cairo

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will receive today a message from Tunisian President Zein Alabedeen Bin Ali on the latest developments in the Middle East and efforts exerted to establish peace in the region.
The message which will be handed over by Tunisian Prime Minister Mohammed Ghanouchi tackles ways of boosting bilateral trade and economic ties.
On the other hand the Egyptian-Tunisian higher committee will convene on Wednesday under the co-chairmanship of Prime Minister Atef Ebeid and his Tunisian counterpart.
Over two days, the committee will discuss promoting economic and trade cooperation and other agreements signed between the two sides, especially the Free Trade Area (FTA) accord.
The two sides are expected to sign at the end of the committee a number of cooperation protocols and memos of understanding in the economic, trade, investment and technical fields.
The two premiers are expected to meet with businessmen from the two countries to discuss obstacles that impede a rise on trade exchange as the two sides hope to up it to $ 300 million a year.
