Emirates vows to rebuild Palestinian houses destroyed by Israel
United Arab Emirates-Palestine, Politics, 3/13/2002

Board chairman of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Red Crescent Khaleifa Nasser al-Sweidi said that the UAE decided to build houses of the Palestinians destroyed by Israel in the West Bank and Gaza and to provide USD 500 as an urgent aid for each family of the "Palestinian martyrs and prisoners."

The UAE dailies published on Tuesday quoted al-Sweidi as saying that the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed al-Nahyan demanded the UAE Red Crescent society to "provide an urgent aid to the family of each martyr of USD 500."

He added that the directives of the UAE minister also include "helping those who were damaged whose houses were destroyed to be renovated by the UAE financial aids." The UAE news agency quoted the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs as saying that total aid provided by the society to the Palestinians tolled USD 131 million ( 6.35 million UAE Dirham) since the eruption of the Intifada.
