Al-Assad, Abdullah discuss new developments, urge strong summit decisions

The talks held between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the Jordanian King Abdullah II on Monday in Damascus dealt with developments in the region, the practices conducted by the Israeli forces against the Palestinians and the current contacts made in preparations for the Arab summit.
The two sides agreed on the need for the summit to conclude a decision that will strengthen Arab solidarity so as to preserve the rights and ensures the dignity of the Arab nation.
The Jordanian King arrived in Damascus on Monday afternoon. Talks dealt with developments on the Arab, regional and international arenas and the acts of killing and destruction carried out against the Palestinian people by the Israeli forces.
The talks also dealt with current contacts among the Arab states in preparations for the next Arab summit and the main issues to be included in the summit's agenda, foremost being support for the Palestinian Intifada and the realization of just and lasting peace on the ground of international legitimacy resolutions and the land for peace formula.
The two sides stressed their opposition to any military acts targeting any Arab state.
Discussions also dealt with bilateral issues of mutual concern to the two states.
