Moussa: Firm Arab stance to confront recent developments
Regional, Politics, 3/11/2002
There is a firm Arab stance to deal with the recent developments in the occupied territories, said Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa.
How can we imagine the absence of a clear-cut Arab stance at a time when Israeli troops are killing and torturing the Palestinains inside the occupied territories, wondered Moussa in statements Sunday following the end of the Arab League ministerial meetings.
Asked if the Arabs wanted to exclude the Americans from playing a role in the peace process, Moussa said that Arabs were in need of an advanced American stance and wanted the Americans to play an impartial role of mediation.
On the reason behind the postponement of discussing the Iraq-Kuwait state of affairs till the upcoming Arab summit, Moussa said that he listened to a report from Iraqi foreign minister and had a telephone conversation with United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan on the issue.
