Morocco-born Khannouchi wins Kyoto half marathon

Morocco-born Khalid Khannouchi, the men's holder of the world fastest time in marathon, won on Sunday the Kyoto city half marathon.
Morocco-born American Khannouchi, who clocked the fastest full marathon record of 2:05:42 at the Chicago marathon in October 1999, got ahead of the rest of the field at around a halfway mark to win the men's race in 1:02:16.
It was the first time that Khannouchi took part in a race held in Japan.
