Morocco renews wish for friendship ties with Spain

Morocco on Thursday renewed wish to have friendship ties with Spain based on mutual respect.

Spain and Morocco have two different but neighbor cultures and Morocco wishes to have friendly ties with Spain based on mutual respect, Moroccan economy, finance and tourism minister, Fathallah Oualalou, told a conference in Barcelona on Moroccan-Spanish relations.

Spain can draw several benefits from relations with Morocco through developing investments instead of continuing to concentrate on obsolete sectors like fisheries and agriculture, he said.

Touching on illegal immigration, Oualalou proposed a joint fight against the problem.

The official invited Spain to show interest in the Moroccan Agency for the Development of the Southern Provinces, whose creation was announced by King Mohammed VI in a speech he gave Wednesday in the Moroccan southern city of Laayoune.
