Jordan: Jailing a businessman fleeing in a Fraud case

The Amman's criminal court has sentenced two year imprisonment the fleeing Jordanian businessman Majd al-Shameylah, in absentia, over issuing false checks in the context of a large fraud operation that exceeds a value of USD 100 million.
The Jordanian local dailies issued on Friday said that the court issued its verdict of Thursday at a complaint from the "Bank of Jordan and the Gulf" for which al-Shameylah issued the two checks during the two last months of 2001 at a total value of USD 2.2 million.
