Moussa announced agenda of the Arab League ministers council

The secretary general of the Arab League (AL) Amr Moussa has announced that the ministerial council of the AL will discuss during today's meeting in Cairo the Arab - Israeli conflict, the Palestinian question and its new developments in all its dimensions, the Palestinian Intifada, Jerusalem and the questions pertinent to the refugees, settlement and development.

In a statement to the Jordanian daily al-Dostour, made on the telephone, the AL chief said that the political discussions will deal with the question of Palestine, the Golan, solidarity with Lebanon and the Intifada and the Arab boycott of Israel.

He added that discussions will also deal with the joint Arab action, the activities of the AL general secretariat and preparations for the agenda of the Arab summit works due t be held in Beirut, the Arab federation project, supporting the Arab states and the question of the Israeli mass destruction weapons.

Moussa added that the council which will be headed by the Kuwaiti foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber will also discuss the debated proposal to found a ministerial council for the Arab ministers of waters and to found a specialized ministerial council for the Arab ministers of al-Awqaf and religious affairs.

Under the item of international affairs, Moussa said that the Arab ministerial council will also discuss the issue of fighting terrorism, the question of the two rivers of Euphrates and the Tigris, the Israeli- Turkish military cooperation and its reflections on the Arab states and stability in the region as well as Arab- African cooperation, the Arab- European dialogue, Arab nominations for posts at the UN the decisions of the council of the Arab ministers of information in its previous session and other related issues.

The AL chief explained that meetings of the ministerial council will be preceded by a meeting for the Arab follow up committee to be headed by the Jordanian foreign minister Marwan al-Maashar on the ground that Jordan presides over the recent Arab summit.
