Zinni will return back to the Middle East
Regional-USA, Politics, 3/8/2002

The US President George Bush announced on Thursday that he had decided to return back Gen. Antony Zinni to the Middle East region next week in order to work for ceasing fire between Israel and the Palestinians.

The US President also backed criticism addressed by his secretary of state Colin Powell to the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon who seemed to have had received a " direct American blow" that might obstruct his war against the Palestinians and undermine his political position in Israel.

It was not made clear yet, whether Bush's decision aims actually at ending the Israeli war in preparation to move in the political field or he intended to protect the tour to be made by his deputy Dick Cheney which will start on Monday to the Middle East.

Cheney's tour is basically dedicated to discuss the situation in Iraq. Cheney's tour is threatened by a campaign of Arab criticism because Bush has refrained from interference to control Sharon's acts against the Palestinians.
