Al-Assad meets with Armenian, French parliamentary delegations

Syria's President Bashar al- Assad on Wednesday in Damascus received Armeen Khatchadrian, the speaker of the national council in the Republic of Armenia and members of the accompanying delegation.

The meeting was attended by the speaker of the Syrian parliament Abdul Qader Qaddoura and the Armenian Ambassador in Damascus.

Discussions dealt with the deep relations exiting between the peoples of Syria and Armenia and on means of strengthening these relations and its continued for the interests of the two countries at the economic, scientific and cultural levels.

The discussions also dealt with current conditions in the occupied Arab territories.

Khatchadrian expressed the reciprocated friendly positions shared between the two countries at various levels.

On Wednesday afternoon the President received the delegation representing the Syrian- French parliamentary friendship society, headed by the chairman of the society Philip Mareini.

The meeting was attended by the chairman of the Syrian- French parliamentary society Basil Dahdouh and the French ambassador in Damascus.

Discussions dealt with means of strengthening relations between the two countries including parliamentary relations.

Discussions also dealt with current conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the acts of killing and destruction conducted by the Israeli forces.

Discussions also dealt with the Postponed ME peace process because of Israel's rejection of peace and its non- abidance to UN resolutions approved unanimously by the world countries.

AL-Assad stressed the ability of Europe to play an effective role towards giving the ME peace process a push forward, noting that conflict can be solved by the political means and under un-biased patronage for serving the interests of peace.

At the end of the meeting President al-Assad asked Meirini to convey his greetings to the French President Jacque Chirac, to the prime minister Lionel Jospin and to the chairman of the French national society.
