Moroccan fm deplores Sharon's resolve to abort any hope for peace
Morocco-Palestine, Politics, 3/6/2002
Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, deplored (Israeli prime minister) Ariel Sharon's resolve to abort any hope for the implementation of peace accords signed between Israel and Palestine in Oslo and Taba as well as the Tenet initiative and the Mitchel report recommendations.
Benaissa told Moroccan "Essabah" daily in an interview published Wednesday the whole world is supporting the establishment of a Palestinian state, the Palestinian people's rights and its heroic resistance against the Israeli military arsenal. However, Sharon is trying by all means to oppose the creation of a Palestinian state. This is inadmissible, he insisted.
Asked on the agenda of the Arab summit, slated for the end of March in Beirut, Benaissa said the agenda will be decided by the Arab foreign ministers meeting on March 9 in Cairo.
He said the summit is scheduled to address pressing issues like the war waged by Israel against the Palestinian people, the establishment of an Arab common market, inter-Arab cooperation, economic integration, and revision and modernization of the Arab League charter.
