A Jordanian- European memorandum of understanding

Jordan and the European Commission on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding which permits, according to the European MEDA 2 program, Jordan will be granted 142 million EURO for three years 2002-2004.
Sources at the Jordanian ministry of planning said that this sum will be allotted to support economic reforms and developing establishment's potentials in order to implement the Jordanian- European association agreement and developing several Jordanian economic areas, fighting poverty and unemployment in the country and supporting the establishment of an infrastructure networking.
On the Jordanian side, the agreement was signed by the minister of planing Basem Awad and the EU was by its ambassador in Amman James Mouran.
