Ministerial report on Libyan ideas submitted to Arab summit conference
Regional-Libya, Politics, 3/6/2002

The Arab ministerial committee in charge of discussing what was debated by the Libyan President Muaammar al-Qaddafi has prepared a report to be submitted to the Beirut Arab summit.

To this effect the Amman's Arab summit of 2001 had formed a committee including the foreign ministers of Syria, Tunisia, Algeria, Sudan, Libya, Egypt, Palestine and the secretary general of the Arab League and headed by Jordan in order to discuss the ideas debated by the Libyan president at the recent Arab summit in Jordan.

The committee held a meeting in Tripoli on June 11 and 12, 2001 and concluded a report explaining al-Qaddafi's view point which says that the Arabs have no option but to join the "African space," warning against the policies of the US which seeks to alienate the Arabs from this "space," besides the other several ideas especially those relating to the Arab- Israeli conflict and the relations with the US.

The committee also concluded also that the ideas debated by Qaddafi should be also studied in depth with the aim to ensure Arab consensus and to formulate it within a work program debated at the summit.
