Moroccan parliamentary delegation visits Bucharest
Morocco-Romania, Politics, 3/5/2002

A Moroccan parliamentary delegation, headed by speaker of the Chamber of Advisors (upper house), Mostapha Okacha, started Saturday a three-day visit to Romania.

A first round of talks between the Moroccan delegation and members of the Rumanian Senate covered ways of enforcing the clauses of the framework convention signed between the two countries' upper houses in 1997.

Okacha stressed the necessity to give more importance to economic cooperation, and expressed hope that the joint commission would meet the soonest to ponder on ways of lowering obstacles to the promotion of bilateral cooperation.

Speaker of the Rumanian senate surveyed the political and economic reforms ushered in by his country prior to its adhesion to the European Union and expressed hope that this adhesion would enrich Moroccan-Rumanian cooperation and would consolidate Morocco's presence in the Euro-Mediterranean process.
