Al-Assad meets prime minister Abu al-Ragheb

Syria's President bashar al-Assad on Monday at the Damascus al-Rawda place received the Jordanian prime minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb. He was accompanied by the Jordanian foreign minister Marwan al-Ma'shar. The meeting was attended by the prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro, the deputy premier and foreign minister Farouk al-Shara and Jordan's ambassador in Damascus Shaker Arabeyat.

Abu al-Ragheb conveyed to President al-Assad a message from the Jordanian King Abdullah dealt with several issues pertaining to the Arab summit in its coming ordinary session.

The discussions dealt with latest developments on the Arab and regional levels as well as bilateral relations between the two sisterly countries.

Following the meeting the Jordanian foreign minister Marwan al-Mashar said that the meeting falls in the framework of continued coordination and consultation with Syria. "As you know there is an ordinary Arab summit for which preparations are made and this visit falls in this context," he said.

Al-Mashar noted that all views were identical concerning debated issues and coordination will continue until the convening of the summit The Jordanian foreign minister also said that discussions dealt with conditions in the Palestinian territories and regional issues and that the talks were very constructive.

Miro then held a luncheon banquet in honor of Abu al-Ragheb and members of the accompanying delegation.

Abu al-Ragheb and members of the accompanying left Damascus on Monday evening and were seen off by Miro and Shara. Al-Ragheb arrived in Damascus earlier in the day.
