Morocco's hotel industry picked as special guest of Italian fair

The Moroccan federation of Tourism and the federation of hotel industry signed with the Genoa fair an agreement setting arrangements for Morocco's participation in the international fair of hotel industry slated for next November 9-13.

Under the agreement, the fair will allocate Moroccan hotel operators a well-located site and present Morocco's investment plan in the sector.

The fair, called Technotel 2002, is one the most important fairs of hotel industry.

The two sides also agreed to exchange information and hold period encounters to examine arrangements for the holding in 2003 in Morocco of an event for Italian hotels.

The agreement was signed on the fringes of a prospecting mission to Morocco by an Italian business delegation, led by foreign trade minister, Adolfo Urso, who dedicated an Italian cable manufacture in Settat (central Morocco).

With 208.4 million Dirhams (US$ 18.08 Mln), Italian investments only represent 1.6% of foreign direct investments in Morocco. In 2000, Italy stood as Morocco's 4th trade partners, accounting for 6% of Morocco's external trade.
