Moussa heads today to Jeddah
Regional-Saudi Arabia, Politics, 3/4/2002
Well-informed sources at the Arab League said on Sunday that the Secretary General of the Arab League (AL) Amre Moussa will head today to Saudi Arabia in a short visit in order to discuss the ideas of the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.
The sources added that the talks aimed at strengthening coordination between the AL and the Saudi officials in order to guarantee getting enough Arab support for these thoughts and means of submitting it to the agenda of the "Arab summit" which will be held in Beirut on March 27 and 28.
The sources added that Moussa will brief the Saudi crown prince Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz on his short visit to Libya and his talks with the Libyan President Muaammar al-Qaddafi on the ideas he declared before the People's General Congress on settling the Arab- Israeli conflict. The AL chief will be also meeting with the Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal in order to hold talks on "crystallizing a united Arab stand and to maintain an agreement towards the Arab move in support of the ideas of the Saudi crown prince."
Meantime, an official source at the Arab League said on Sunday that the agenda of the summit which is prepared by the AL general secretariat in consultation with Lebanon and Jordan ( Lebanon the current president of the Arab summit and Jordan is the recent one ) will be "subjected to fundamental changes in light of the debated Arab ideas. At the meantime, especially those of the Saudi crown prince or those of al-Qaddafi." The AL source concluded as saying that " ways of debating these ideas in the summit will be crystallized in light of consultations held by the AL chief."
