Canadian premier on African tour next month
Morocco-Canada, Politics, 3/2/2002
Canada's prime minister, Jean Chretien, will undertake next April 2-12 a visit to seven African countries, including Morocco.
Chretien will visit Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, South Africa, Mozambique, Ethiopia and Senegal, said a statement of the prime minister's office.
The African tour is part of Canada's preparations for the G8 most industrialized countries summit, to be held next June 26-27 in Kananaskis (Western Canada).
The leaders of the most industrialized countries and Russia had decided in their summit in Genoa, Italy, to adopt a work plan for Africa and support the NEPAD, Africa's new partnership initiative for development.
