Iraq invites Blair to visit as Britain escalates rhetoric against Iraq
Iraq-UK, Politics, 3/2/2002
The British defense minister Geoffrey Hoon has warned Iraq against the possibility of being exposed to a military attack if it will continue to produce mass destruction weapons and opposes the return back of UN inspectors.
In an interview with the BBC broadcast on Friday, Hoon said that Britain is ready to take part together with Washington in directing blows to Iraq if conditions would be available. He indicated that Baghdad's rejection the return back of inspection operations carried out by the UN is considered one of these conditions.
He added that Saddam Hussein's regime still constitutes a threat for the security of the West, noting the need of continued diplomatic efforts, especially with the countries of the Middle East.
In responce to Brittish allegations, The Iraqi official news agency INA said today qouting official sources "British Prime Minister Tony Blair has claimed that Iraq continues to produce mass destruction weapons, Blair frequently utters malicious and aggressive allegations against Iraq in harmony with U.S stance without depending on facts and accuracy." "Nevertheless, we say that the one who has real information on this allegation should know how and where does Iraq try to produce such weapons. If Blair said how and where and declare this to the entire world, we are ready to receive a British mission led by Blair himself accompanied by British journalists to prove where and how Iraq is producing such weapons," the spokesman said.
