Cooperation between Syria, UNIDO discussed

The Syrian minister of industry Issam al-Zaem in Vienna on Thursday met with the director general of the of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) Carlos Magarinos. The meeting was attended by the Syrian ambassador in Austria, the UNDP resident representative in Damascus Toaufiq Ben Amara and UNIDO's regional office director in Beirut.
Discussions dealt with cooperation relations between Syria and UNIDO.
The Syrian minister expressed Syria's appreciation for the response it gets from UNIDO and its support to the UN developmental program in Syria.
The Syrian minister talked about the march of modernization and development taking place in Syria in all fields under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad. He also expressed Syria's keenness to enlarge this backing given by UNIDO.
For his part, UNIDO's director expressed his organization's readiness to support Syria by all available means to proceed its development march.
