Bin Ali wants citizens' approval to amend the Tunisian constitution

The Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali has announced he intends to have the public vote on a constitutional change throught the referendum process.
He will propose a draft to amend the constitution to a public referendum after it will be ratified by the parliament and after distributing voting cards to the voters as from next May and to facilitate Arab and foreign press to follow up the referendum process.
In a speech he delivered on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Tunisian parliament Bin Ali warned against the phenomenon of terrorism. President Bin Ali did not touch upon amending item 39 of the current constitution which limits the term of office of the President for three years. This item will be canceled in the amendment which is intended to be ratified.
