Mrs. Mubarak praised for war on drugs

The Egyptian First Lady Suzanne Mubarak's efforts to combat drug abuse has been praised by the International Organisation of Drug Control.
Mrs Mubarak adopted the national campaign for combating drug abuse three years ago and has played a played a major role in highlighting the concept of rehabilitation.
The international organisation also paid tribute to the Egyptian government's efforts in tackling the problem of drugs in its campaigns launched by the Miniseries of the Interior and Defence in Sinai.
In its report, released yesterday, the organisation called upon other countries in the region to take Egypt as a role model in their battles against drug abuse.
It also called upon Egypt to share its valuable experience with neighbouring countries, particularly in terms of legislation which has made the penalties for cultivating, smuggling, and abusing drugs more severe.
The report also highlighted Egypt's efforts to pass legislation to combat money laundering and called for further restrictions on access to drugs to young people who are the most at risk from them.
