Sanaa hands over to Riyadh a Saudi belongs to al-Qaida
Saudi Arabia-Yemen, Politics, 2/28/2002

The Saudi minister of the Interior prince Nayef said that Yemen has handed over one Saudi who has links to al-Qaida organization led by Osama Bin Laden. He stressed that Saudi Arabia is still making investigations with persons suspected to have links to this organization.

In a statement to the Saudi daily Okaz issued on Wednesday, prince Nayef said replying to a question on cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen in search for al-Qaida members: "so far one person was handed over. We did not ask for more because we do not have more evidences."

On the other hand, the Saudi minister of the interior said that there are still detainees out of the 30 Saudis arrested in the Kingdom suspected to have links to al-Qaida organization.

He said that this process "of arresting al-Qaida members will continue for the time being."

On the other hand, and replying to a question on the fate of Osama Bin Laden, the Saudi minister said " we do not have information, nor give any interest to this matter."

As for the Saudi detainees in the American base in Guantanamo in Cuba, prince Nayef renewed the Saudi desire for their return. He said "as far as the Saudi detainees are there, the matter is left for them (the Americans)." They know we want the return back of our citizens to their country and we do think that they (the Americans) will respond to us in due time.
