Morocco, Austria sign non-double taxation and air transport agreements
Morocco-Austria, Economics, 2/27/2002

Morocco and Austria signed in Rabat this Wednesday a non-double taxation agreement and an accord regulating air transport between the two countries.

The accords were signed by Morocco's minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, and visiting Austrian federal foreign minister, Benita Ferrero-Waldner.

The non-double taxation agreement, which also means to avoid tax evasion, applies to movable and real estate properties and capital gains. It stipulates that each country would grant equal treatment to the other's citizens, amiable settlement of disputes and trading information on laws regulating the concerned taxes.

Under the air transport agreement, the two countries undertake to give to each other's designated air company the right to use air transport facilities.

The agreements were initialed as the Austrian official started on Tuesday an official visit meant to improve bilateral economic ties.

Ferrro-Waldner, who is accompanied by a group of businessmen, will be reviewing with Moroccan officials a set of issues related to relations between Morocco and the European Union, inter-culture dialogue and the situation in the middle east. Before Morocco, she was in Tunisia and Algeria.
